Description

This wall hanging is inspired by the tale of Bradan the Salmon. The Salmon is the oldest animal in the Druid tradition and swims in the Well of Segais (the source of the river Boyne in Ireland) Surrounding the well grows 9 hazel trees which drop their nuts in to the water. The salmon eats the magical hazelnuts. There are many stories about Bradan the wisest of animals.

The quilt itself is shaped like a shield- I am inspired by ancient artifacts such as shields and coins, and I enjoyed making the circular shape. It is mainly hand sewn and is totally my own original design and one of a kind.

It is made from various shades of silver/grey satin which have then been quilted and embroidered. It is 61cm x 61cm and reinforced at the back with wooden slats so it hangs properly with a cord attached for easy hanging.
