Description

Victorian cream silk satin painted and embroidered fan, antique carved and pierced bovine bone fan, 1860s - 1890s cream silk folding fan
Bovine bone outer guards and inner sticks are all carved and pierced into areas of crosses and circles.
The ivory coloured silk satin leaf is painted with a delicate spray of flowers and leaves with the flowers being embroidered in silk threads.
To the top edge of the silk fan is a cream lace with scalloped edge.
Plain ivory coloured fabric to the reverse.
All held at the bottom of the fan with a metal pivot together with a gold metal loop handle.
Measures approx 30 cm long by 59cm wide when fully open.
Condition
Some slight creasing to the front silk leaf, the top lace has small age stains in places and the reverse leave also is stained in places.
