Description

Hand dyed 8 ply Australian merino wool and cotton blend yarn, in gemstones inspired colourway Boulder Opal!

60% Australian merino wool and 40% Australian cotton yarn, this yarn is dyed in skeins in small batches with vegan friendly fibre reactive dyes.
Because this is fibre reactive dye, the dye bonds to the fibres and is very stable.

The colours in this yarn are a subtle rainbow of shades. The rainbow colours are life pops or slithers of colour among the overall dark tones. This is inspired by the boulder opal gemstone. Boulder opal, commonly found in Queensland, Australia, are veins of Opal amongst bedrock. They are beautiful gemstones that are usually cut with the surrounding bedrock around them, and they contrast beautifully with the rich red stones.

The base yarn is milled in Victoria, so this is a 100% Australian produced item. The skeins are hand dyed by me in Canberra Australia.

The mix of colours in this skein creates a really beautiful colour pooling effect when knitted or crocheted.

Because this yarn is hand dyed, there is a very small chance of colour bleeding. All care has been taken to remove excess dye, and all my yarns are pre-washed and rinsed.
It is unlikely it will bleed, but still possible.
If this is a concern, it is recommended that you add vinegar to the water when washing to prevent colour transferring.

Yarn caking service available on all yarns- select the Yes! Option from the drop down menu to have your yarn wound into centre pull cakes for easy crafting!

I only use recycled and biodegradable material in my packaging. For clothing, I do re-use plastic bags to keep them from getting wet in transit. Reusing old bags reduces the need to make new ones.
Wherever possible I do avoid plastic packaging.
