This Beautiful French Copper Cake Mold (“Moule a Gateau” in French) was brought to life in the 1800s in the era of Louis Philippe which defines this Patisserie Mold specific style.
A gorgeous antique piece that was handcrafted in France over 200 years ago. Today it could be a unique piece of cookware for baking a cake or displaying!

USAGE (then and now):

This Baking Mold or Cake Mold was used in traditional kitchens of Estate or rich household to create beautifully shaped cakes. The dough would be put in the buttered cake mold and put in an oven. Highly decorative, the mold, when not being used, would be hung on the kitchen wall.

Today, it would make a great addition to any home or kitchen. Therefore, it is a particularly nice piece for those who will appreciate its history and enjoy being the caretaker of a valuable piece of culture and craftsmanship.

WHAT MAKES THIS PIECE UNIQUE (assembly, condition):

What we really like about this piece is the great condition in which it is in. What is fascinating about cake molds is that they vary in shapes and sizes and are so different. Some are more intricate than others and this is one of them.

We’ve polished the copper to a fine luster which brings out the beautiful color of the copper and its brilliance. We have had this french copper mold professionally re-polished. As well the little ring to hang on a wall has been replaced. If you wish to use this charming baking mold to bake cakes or flans you will need to have it re-tinned. The mold is in perfect condition with no dents (quite amazing for having been used over 200 years!)

This piece is destined for a pastry chef, the everyday baker or as a lovely decoration.
