Description

Bobbin lace, vintage, Flowergirl - or the girl with the flower. Made of white yarn, rather large sized. Looks great in a nursery or as a gift for a flowergirl. Size 12 cm * 26 cm = 4.7" * 10.2

This girl was made by Nellie when she explored the more figurative side of bobbin lace. It's still from the 80s, which explains why the white yarn have some wear and tear. The size is rather big, but didn't contain as much bobbin lace wooden pins as you would expect. The figure is created by making a lace -ribbon that connects to the other parts of this girl.

I do think Nellie was inspired to create this by one of the pictures of her marriage: this flowergirl looks exactly like one of the flowergirls she had, being a bride in the 60s. It took her over a month to create this lovely lady. Most time consuming was making the lace at exactly the right angle, and to follow the pattern in that.
We are not going to repeat some of the words she said, but we do have some profound memory of her making this peticular piece.

Altough this piece isnt exactly what Nellie learned at studying in Turnhout, it also isnt contemporary either. It's a bit of both worlds.

If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to combine it with other child-related lace: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
