Description

Handmade bobbin lace Butterfly, made with purple and white treads and a lot of small iridescent beads, contemporary style. To decorate your butterfly themed wedding or nursery, or to create memories with a butterfly loving relative.

This butterfly was the first in which Nellie used to learn how to add beads to her work. They have been sewn into the bobbin lace. It's a more contemporary style in contrast to her more classical Turnhout lace. It was made by using wooden bobbin lace pins, white and purple yarn. The purple tends to look like lilac, but Nellie is not sure if it has always been this way or that some of the color vanished. Although it is created by using the loose style, this particular piece looks very neatly laced.

It was created in the 80's and it took Nelly three weeks to make it. If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to see a picture of multiple butterflies created by Nellie: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. Framing is no option - the frame might fall or get crashed and damage the art.

We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
