Description

This multi-color bobbin lace butterfly has red, blue, some yellow yarn and looks a bit vintage. More contemporary lace for people who love vintage lace that adds color to your home. Size: approx 7cm * 8cm = 2.76" * 3.15"

This piece is a rather small sized butterfly, easily to combine in a frame with the other butterflies Nellie created. Altough Turnhouts lace is known for it's ancient and hunter-based patterns, this butterfly is more contemporary bobbin lace. One might recognize the need for colour that we've had in the 80s.

Nellie created this as part of her learning journey. Although she isn't the biggest fan of the contemporary decor, she liked this butterfly because - well, it's a butterfly. And she is always attracted to the colour red, as you can see in her picture. It is a rather small piece of decor. The contemporary lace technique looks a bit more loose than the Turnhout/Bruges style Nellie also has made. By her estimation now, between 20-50 bobbin lace wooden pins were used and it took her three weeks to finish.

If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to combine this butterfly with (a few of) the others: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. Framing is not included, because we don't feel comfortable by shipping delicate frames. You can choose your own frame, material and cardboard to give this little butterfly the attention it definitely deserves.

We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
