Description

White/Beige small letter C, made with bobbin lace. Start of an alphabet project. Would look lovely in the nursery of a new-born, or on a celebration card for someone with a C (Cathy, Christel, Caroline, Camila, Caitlyn...)

This letter was Nellies try to create an alphabet by using wooden bobbin lace pins. She choose for C, since her first granddaughter was named Carlyn. It's a rather small piece of art, so check the measurements in inches if you have any doubts. It was created using approximately 50 - 100 wooden bobblin lace pins. The little loops surrounding the C, are called piques and are made with only four pins. It's handmade and in this piece you can see she was in a hurry to get it finished: at the bottom she did turn a bit sloppy. She does like to blame us for that though - we apparently made her visit some parent-teacher conference, which delayed her work. And she needed to get it finished before her next lesson.

The style of this piece is vintage Turnhout lace. Often compared with bruges lace. The alphabet Nellie created after this piece, still has a place in her house. And up till now she still hangs on to it.

If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to combine it with other pieces that are related to children: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. We are shipping in cardboard without frame: we don't want to risk the quality of the piece being compromised by some shattering glass from a frame.
We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
