Description

This is a small vintage bobbin lace piece with two birds and a heart. Would look nice when it's framed in a nursery, or as decor at a vintage themed wedding. Almost all used yarn are white, but there is a touch of gold on top as you can see in the pictures.

The piece slightly resembles the stick used in the Netherlands at the start of the good week (palmpasen). Could be a gift for easter, for bird-loving birds, or maybe a baptism or a church. It was created by starting at the topflower and the golden yarn. (gold looking, to be accurately). After that, she would create the artwork by use of Linnenslag, Netslag and Vlinderslag (dutch words for the strokes used that Nellie can't find an english word for). Troughout the whole work there is some goldwire fixed to it.
The tails of the birds are created by the loose ends of the white wire that she has used, giving it a bit of a playfull touch. The bobbin lace is in a rather contemporary style, not the typical Bruges/ Turnhout work Nellie used to learn at mrs N lace atelier.

If you have any aditional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to combine this bird with some other: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. Shipping is in cardboard: we don't feel comfortable in shipping in frames since that might cause the frame or glass to break. We would love to see how you framed it, in your own colors and style.

We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
