Description

Cross, made of handmade vintage bobbin lace, used 2 kind of strokes and made of white yarn. For christening, baptism or church? Size 7cm * 12cm = 2.76" * 4.72", gift for priest, Baptism gift, church decorations

This cross was made by Nellie while studying at Mrs N's school of Turnhout Lace Art. She used white yarn and started at the top with approx. 40-80 wooden bobbin lace pins. The edges are made with a stroke called Linnenslag, to make it resemble like a Linen ribbon. In the center she used a different stroke, this creating the open layout. Where it becomes a cross, she would just add a lot of wooden pins, with all kinds of pins to keep them in place and to make sure the cross is actually a cross, and not some format, trapezium shaped, figure.

Being made in Turnhout lace school, it has a more ancient look.

If you want to know more, feel to ask. If you want to see how this cross looks together with some other, just ask and we will try to photograph it when we are visiting Nellie. Since framing puts a lot of extra weight on the freight - and we are not sure how frame and glass will survive transport, we only sent out the items, unframed. We're a European (Dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
