This lovely antique Nippon porcelain hair receiver is from the Victorian era! While they are not commonly used today, hair receivers are collectible. They can be used to store jewelry, hair pins, and small precious valuables!

A hair receiver was once an essential piece on a lady's dressing table. It was used in the past to collect hair that was brushed or combed out. In the Victorian and Edwardian eras, people valued human hair for its sentimental and practical uses. Collected hair could be used to create jewelry, such as brooches and bracelets, or to make elaborate styled wigs.

It is made from high quality porcelain, a type of smooth, strong material. It's painted with fancy gold designs that look like scrolls, and curly lines. Pretty flower motifs give it a romantic and fancy feel. And when the light shines on it, the gold parts sparkle and shine

The receiver is in great shape with some gold loss on the very top. No chips, cracks or crazing.

When it was made a lime colour line was painted under where the gold accent was later painted. This is not a discoloration. The same method was used on another area where the gold is still in tact.
