Description

The Shatweh (u0634u0637u0648u0629) is a Palestinian headdress made in the shape of a tarboosh or fez. Made of padded layers of fabric, the front of it is often covered with coins and coral, signifying the fortune given by the groom on their wedding day. It is a status symbol for both the woman and her husband.

This particular headdress is based on the historical Shatweh, and was made with the intention of being a sort of "prop," an alternative to using an actual Shatweh, which is more delicate and expensive, and should not be used lightly. The embroidery is genuine Palestinian handiwork, while the striped fabric is Kutnu. The coral are genuine as are the coins!
