Description

Saarineva Forest, unique handmade print. Printed with the Vandyke brown (vdb) process over an archival UltraChrome pigment layer. The image is of old spruce trees in Saarineva Forest, Pomarkku, Finland.

Printed on Guarro Casas Cream paper. The print comes with a natural white acid matboard making it easy to frame. Matboard size is 50 x 40 cm, image size 35 x 23.5 cm.

The Vandyke brown is a historic photographic process based on the first iron-silver process invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel. It uses UV light for exposure and gets its name from its similarity in colour to the rich brown pigment used by the Flemish painter Van Dyck.
