Description

This listing is for a dreamy classic white Regency ballgown made from a semi sheer soft flowy fabric (likely a cotton blend polyester I guess) featuring embroidered Paisley motives in white and blue (it was found at a local thrift store in the shape of several curtains to be). This rather simple yet utterly elegant design has a long train and short puffed sleeves with gold tassel embellished drawstrings, making the cuff circumference practically adjustable. The bodice front is gathered and decorated with draped details for an even more romantic look, and three vintage velveteen flowers with leaves gives the whole creation a little pop of color. A light gold braid runs down the skirt front and shoulder straps and two different silver trims, along with a flower shaped stiff lace, frames the hem, neckline and sleeves. This dress is almost entirely unlined, except for the side panels of the bodice (lining fabric is a basic white cotton) and the constructional seams are machined. However, most visible finishes are sewn by hand. It closes in the back with sky blue sateen drawstrings at the waist and bust (same as the sleeves) , making it possible to fit at least a few different sizes and the train is equipped with a thread loop to slide a ribbon or cord through so that it can be lifted while dancing or walking outside.
Because this dress is rather see through I recommend wearing a bodiced petticoat underneath, unless you want to go with a scandalous late 1790s Merveilleuse inspired style!
