Description

This is a handmade folk costume, inspired very much by Ukrainian folklore. It consists of 3 main parts, the shift ("rubaha" or "vyshivanka"), wrapping skirt of 2 parts, 3,5 long belt, as well as accessories like necklace and wreath-headpiece. It fits multiple sizes.
The shift was made of firm cotton and the pattern was the one of historical Slavic shifts. The geometrical motivs were embroidered by hand on a less dense cotton fabric and sewn onto the underdress. It closes at the front with a drawstring and can be adjusted at the back as well. The dimensions of the shift are: length 121cm, chest: 132cm, waist: 114cm, hips: 120cm.
The skirt is wrapped over the shift and, to fit more sizes, first comes an apron-like part, tied at the back, then the wrapped multicolour skirt, also tied (there are special holes at the belt part where you can pul it through and tie at the back). The length of the wrapping skirt is 78cm. The belt comes on the top, and it's 3,55m long, made of light cotton mix.
As accessories we added a necklace and headpiece-wreath made of faux flowers (that you put on the head and tie under your hairstyle.
The work put into this costume was really quite bit but it was a great challenge.<3
