Description

Vintage set, signed by LISNER, blue rhinestones silver tone metal set, consisting of necklace, bracelet and clip on earrings. Original from the 50s.

Clear and sparkling set with a thousand flashes that plays on the floral theme with great sophistication. The set dates back to the second half of the 1950s or very early 1960s.

Necklace and bracelet are made up of very similar panels although slightly different in size: 7 panels for the necklace and 6 for the bracelet.

Each of the panels is composed of two opposing half corollas, each with four petals and a rhinestone in the centre, separated by a row of five rhinestones arranged in an 'S'. The rhinestones are pale blue and are ? every other one ? Aurora Borealis with characteristic violet flashes.

Each earring, slightly domed, is made up of five petals topped with six rhinestones.

The metal of the set is silver tone and the flower petals are satin finish.

Overall the necklace is 43 cm long (17 inches) and 1.5 cm wide (10/16 of an inch). The part decorated with flowers and rhinestones measures just over 22 cm (about 9 inches) and has two sections of elongated link chain at the ends, one of which ends with a 'J' hook which allows you to adjust the length.

The bracelet measures a generous 19.5 cm (7 inches and 3/4) including the clasp and is 1.5 cm wide (10/16 inch).

Clip on earrings measure 2 cm x 2 (3/4 inch x 3/4).

The LISNER signature is visible on the 'J' hook of the necklace, on the rear of the alligator clasp of the bracelet and on the clips of the earrings (see last pict).

The set is in excellent condition: the metal is shiny and intact and the rhinestones are all present and super sparkling. Photographing rhinestones is not easy and the photos do not do justice to this set.
The only flaw I notice is a rhinestone on the bracelet which has certainly been replaced (it's a little darker), practically invisible among all this glitter. By looking carefully at the pictures of the bracelet you may perhaps be able to spot it.

The D. Lisner & Company, founded in New York City in 1904, imports from Europe jewelry until the '30s, when it begins to create their pieces signed with LISNER sign. The peak of production is in the 50s with high quality designs, often inspired by nature, but also geometric and abstract, and use of materials such as rhinestones, aurora borealis and lucite, combined with metal in gold and silver tone. At the beginning of the 80s the company goes out of business.
