Description

A beautiful and somewhat rare phulkari bagh known as 'paanch rangi' due to the five colors in the design. The surface of this headcover/shawl is made up of silk embroidered vertical stripes which in turn contain diamond motifs. The handle is very soft, sensuous and glossy. There are a few areas with minor wear due to friction during use and storage over time, but considering it is around one hundred years old, the condition is very nice. It was produced in the Western Punjab area of India, and this type of embroidery no longer is practised. It is a wonderful surviving example of a bygone era. The dimensions are 96" x 50" (241cm x 127cm). Price includes tracked international shipping.
