Description

Item Details.
A stunning waistcoat made in the Europe or for the European market during the first quarter of the 19th century and using womanu2019s trouser panels from Asia.

Hand embroidered in the 18th century with dense cross stitch and petit point in diagonal lines, silk twist on linen ground.

Traditionally embroidered with stylised floral motifs celebrating gardens.

Handstitcjed throughout the waistcoat has tiny covered buttons two bound pockets and other lovely attention to detail.

It is a museum worthy piece and deserves a place in an archive.

Measurements:
34` 87cm chest
21` 54cm length

Condition:
In good antique condition with some breaks and losses around hems and armhole edges. Marks to original brushed cotton lining and small holes to the charcoal colour woollen back of waistcoat. An overall patina of age, all as you would expect in an item of this antiquity.
