''The story of Wolterman's Emaillekunst Atelier, a creative saga that originated in Bad Nieuweschans in Groningen, is a fascinating journey through time. Founded by Wolterman Frederik, born on July 30, 1895, the workshop began its journey as a coppersmith's company in 1933. Wolterman, an alumnus of the Kunstgewerbeschule in Aachen, transformed his company into a center of enamel art after the Second World War.
A creative collaboration blossomed at the heart of this venture. Women, with their fine hand for painting, and men, specialized in burning the enamels, worked side by side. This team of designers, coppersmiths and painters created unique works of art. A key figure in this period was Johannes Martinus "Jean" Nelissen, born in Oud Vroenhoven on November 20, 1917. A leading designer, trained at the Vrije Academie in Utrecht, Nelissen achieved great recognition by winning a gold medal at an international art exhibition in Munich"
