Description

This magical brass box from the 70s is a real eye-catcher. It was manufactured by VEB Kunstschmiede Neuruppin (formerly Kunstschmiede Emil Funk KG Neuruppin). There is a company brand at the bottom of the can. The shape and design date from the 1930s. The box is hand chased and hammered. This gave it the unmistakable hammered look. The inside of the box is nickel-plated and the lid has a wooden handle. The magical patina and signs of wear give it a very special vintage charm and character. These are intentional and thereby demonstrate their originality. To highlight and protect the patina even better, the can was treated with Balistol oil.

Emil Funk was a member with his blacksmith shop at the Gildenhall open-air settlement in Neuruppin. Gildenhall was founded in 1921 by the builder and settlement engineer Georg Heyer. This artisan cooperative worked according to the principles of the German Werkbund and the Bauhaus. You also had the basic idea of merging crafts and arts and crafts. The following artists and craftsmen, among others, settled in Gildenhall: the hand weaver Else Mu00f6gelin, the ceramicist Richard Mutz, the blacksmith Siegfried Pru00fctz, the carpenter Walter Vogt and a few more.
At the beginning of the 1960s, the Emil Funk blacksmith's shop was converted into a semi-public company in the form of a limited partnership. In 1972 the company became public property and was always managed by the district. The VEB Kunstschmiede Neuruppin was initially subordinate to the Economic Council of the Potzdam district.
