Full Bobbin Lace Circle, vintage 80s, handmade. Created with white yarn. Neater version, full circle, size 12 cm * 12 cm = 4.7"* 4.7. Coaster, gift for vintage lover, circle art

This was one of Nellies first full circles of bobbin lace. She made two, and both are for sale. A Full circle is made by starting with only 8 wooden bobbin lace pins at the top, and adding more every time you finish a left-right move. This involves good counting and calculation: you want to add exact the right amount of pins in order to make it look like a circle and not like a pentagon, octagon or square.

Besides pins, it used a lot of needles to keep everything in place before finishing. The very small circles you see around the center, are called piques and are actually created by twisting 4 yarn in a special way. This adds to the more bohemian look and feel of this art.

Nellie created this as part of her study at the Turnhout Lace School of Mrs N. She does like to tell us this is a more sloppy circle - we call it a bit more contemporary. It does not contain the typical Belgian lace pieces like hunters or animals, but to be honests - one could see a shipping steering wheel in the lace. Just don't tell Nellie ever that we said that.

There is another art, looking almost exactly like this one, but this one is more neat. Altough - it does contain one mistake: if you take a close look at the stands, you can see this one has one stand with only one pique, where in the other listing they all have two. Yes, it's a small difference, but Nellie keeps on pointing it out to us.

As an inspiration we have added some pictures in which we painted this circles as a coaster and framed. Those pictures are not on real scale - Nellie didnt want us to touch the fabric too much. We are confident that you will find better and nicer looking ways to use these circles.

If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to combine a couple of circulars and or squares: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
