Description

Tiny and delicate vintage handmade bobbin lace cross. With circles to make it look more modern, would look lovely framed or when used in a weddingdress or other clothing. Size 6 cm * 8,5 cm = 2.36" * 3.15", bridal lace

This small cross was made during the later years of Nellie educating herself in bobbin lace at Mrs N's Turnhout Lace School. By words of Nellie: the amount of wooden bobbin lace pins was not that big, but the amount of grey hair afterwards doubled.

The piece is created by her making the ribbon across the pattern, in the meanwhile connecting it where the patter said it has to be. She used LinnenSlag (Difficult to translate, but this is the dutch word for it), and creating some piques: The small circles you see at the edge of this cross.

We, her kids, can remember this piece, cause we took an education in swearing while she was creating it. Which is just our way of saying it was hard for her, to create both the density and openness this cross asks for.

She always thought she could use it to create a really nice part of a (wedding/baptism) dress or blouse. But it ended up in her drawer, so she would love to know if somebody could use it like it was supposed to be used. You could even turn it into a necklace if you find a very light frame.

If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to see how this cross will combine with other: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. Because we are cautious in shipping, we choose not to frame our art, but have you decide on your own how and where to use it. Shipping a framed item may cause some shattered glass, cause we can't garantee that every mail handler can read our handle with care sign.

We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
