Description

Oval Vintage Bobbin Lace art, handmade with white (turning beige) yarn, contains three shaped figures, consists of a ribbon of lace that's held in place by other lace. Size 10cm * 6 cm = 3.94" * 2.36"

This oval / circle was created by Nellie during her later year of schooling at MRs N. in Turnhout. Although it isn't quite the Turnhout/Bruges lace style, it still has some components as the moves that were used (linnenslag, netslag, vlinderslag - google translate doesn't know how to translate these so we just name them as we call them in Dutch) and it is slightly based on a tree.

She made this art, starting at the top with only 8 wooden bobbin lace pins. Every strike, when she goes from left to right and back, she would add more pins and some needles to keep them in place. It required her to do a lot of calculating because you do want the figure to look like an oval, not a circle, pentagon, octagon or just a shaped form of lace art.

The piece was originally created with white yarn, but it looks like the vintage look is created also by some colouring of these yarn.

If you have any additional questions on this piece, feel to ask. For instance, if you want to combine it with other circles: just ask and we'll try to photograph it as soon as we're visiting Nellie. We don't frame these items, cause that would make shipping really expensive - and more risky. We're a European (dutch) based family, so our timezone might be slightly different from yours - and we could respond on a rather unusual time. As it has been in the closet for so long, it's not possible to make any adjustments or add Personalization.

Some things to take into consideration:
All measurements are in cm's and converted.
The rulers in the pictures use centimeters or millimeters. 1 cm = 10 mm = 0,393700787 inch.

These handmade products are the results of Nellies training and bobbin lace lessons. Some of them are over 40 years old and have some wear and tear. For adding some vintage look (mid 20th century) to your wedding or a room. Because the products are handmade, there might be some mistakes while making the lace. If Nellie noticed it on time, she would fix it. If not, she will just keep pointing out where she went sloppy (because one of us was having a school-emergency) or made a mistake (obviously not her fault, but originated in some kind of drama in her big family)

All the artist impressions are just that: an impression how to use these products. Feel to ask any questions or extra pictures.

If you want to order multiple products, ask for a 'how do they look together' picture.

Products are shipped in a small-sized box, with some re-used cardboard. The bobbin lace is not attached to the paper, so it could be wringled if your post-service-person really likes to swing those boxes I ship using dutch Postnl, with a track and trace. Flying it across an ocean might cost some time.
