Description

A delightful antique Victorian gold filled locket back pendant in rose gold tone. The elongated oval form is set with a central Bohemian garnet, 3mm in diameter, in a high prong setting. The front with strap work scrolls with a matt and polished surface. With an ornate border.
The apex with molded scrolls.
To the reverse is a machine engraved oval panel opening to reveal a space for two photographs, with both frames and one glass
The panel is easy to open with a fingernail.
The reverse with a classical border to match the front.
With a reeded bail.
On a book chain to which it is attached with a spring ring.

A charming sentimental locket, or mourning locket, in very good antique condition but lacking one glass, and with an old repair to the fixing of the bail.
It is fiddly to remove the frames to the compartments, you may need to enlist the help of a jeweler or watchmaker. The locket panel closes firmly and can be opened easily with a fingernail.
Garnet is the birthstone for January.
