Description

Beautifully soft and light baby camel and merino hand dyed yarn!

50% New Zealand Merino and 50% baby camel fibre yarn, this yarn is dyed in skeins in small batches with fibre reactive dyes.

Camel is a luxury fibre, and baby camel is even softer than the adult fibre. Comparable to cashmere, but warmer and cruelty . Camels naturally shed their down coat seasonally, and the fibre is simply combed off the camels to collect the beautiful fibre.
Camels are related to alpacas and llamas, and their fibre has been used for thousands of years in the middle east.
This yarn has excellent stitch definition and is perfect for lacey items.

The base yarn is super lightweight and airy. It is a 2ply yarn and would be suitable for light shawls and lacework. When this yarn is held double it is perfect for any 4 ply patterns such as socks or any other 4ply items. The generous meterage per skein means it's possible to make a shawl or other such items from a single skein. However it is always best to check your pattern for exact meterage requirements.

The skeins shades of caramel colours, tan and brown. The colours are inspired by the Tiramisu dessert!

This yarn was dyed by me in Canberra.

The mix of colours in this skein creates a really beautiful colour tonal variegated effect when knitted or crocheted.

Because this yarn is hand dyed, there is a very small chance of colour bleeding. All care has been taken to remove excess dye, and all my yarns are pre-washed and rinsed.
It is unlikely it will bleed, but still possible.
If this is a concern, it is recommended that you add vinegar to the water when washing to prevent colour transferring.

I only use recycled and biodegradable material in my packaging. For clothing, I do re-use plastic bags to keep them from getting wet in transit. Reusing old bags reduces the need to make new ones.
Wherever possible I do avoid plastic packaging.
