Description

Here comes a beautiful well-loved antique teddy bear, made in the 1920s by Willy Weiersmuller in Nuremberg, Germany. Our teddy bear here is very very rare and easy to identify, in Ciesliks u201cTeddybu00e4r Lexikon` is a photograph to be found, showing our bear without any doubt, please, see all the photographs!

Our sweet antique Weiersmuller teddy bear here is made of off-white wool plush and lost a good deal of it as you can see. Old bears back painted and now almost transparent glass eyes are original. The few remaining nose/mouth stitches are original for sure. All hand and foot pads were heavily oversewn with several layers of fabric, I had to de-restore this, it looked really awful. Much of the original felt, already fixed with stitches on both feet, came to light again. Originally our bear would have cardboard soles inside the felt feet, but they are missing on both sides. Where the original felt was missing, I replaced it. I decided against relacing the claw stitches, since the originals are completely missing.
All 5 disk joints working fine, and the excelsior (wood wool) stuffing is still firm.

Antique much loved Weiersmuller teddy bear stands 33 cm / 13 inches tall.
Please do note the significant pattern, long arms, long pointy snout, seams in front and back of the body, seams on the back of the legs.
The silk bow was added by me.
A beautiful well-loved antique shabby chic teddy bear for the collector or simply to love him for his sweet and lovely character!

Willy Weiersmuller (or Weiersmueller) founded his toy / teddy bear making business in 1920 and it existed until 1945 only, despite the great popularity of his teddy bearsu2026 Not much is known about the company except for some photographs of their models, one of which you can see in the last listing photograph.

Please, be aware that NONE of the decorations you see in the photographs will come with the old teddy bear ? this listing is for the well-loved antique Weiersmuller teddy bear ONLY!
