Description

Striking and beautiful 1930's ivory silk bias cut nightgown.
Most likely a part of a wedding trousseau this gorgeous nightgown has been sewn entirely by hand.
Whew! This is a really special and ornate slip. So many delightful details to look at.
This dress was made by a super talented seamstress.
Beautiful fine ivory satin silk - has a great shine and feel.
Delicate cotton lace at the bodice is on a super fine netting background - lovely floral pattern.
Front bodice is almost entirely made of lace.
Shoulder straps are an unusual detail - a different sheer type of silk has been used at the shoulder. Ribbons have been threaded though a channel of pin tucks and create a pretty ruched texture.
The bias cut skirt of the dress has pin tucks at the front waist for a soft romantic shape. The pin tucks have all been stitched by hand - such painstaking work.
French seams on the inside. All stitched by hand!
Rolled hem stitched by hand.
Thin and wide belt loops at the side seams - belt has been lost to history.
No labels, hand made by a very talented seamstress.
Very good vintage condition with no fabric or sewing flaws. Some (I see two!) tiny age dots. One pin hole size hole at the shoulder where the ribbon ties - discreet at backed with fabric.
