From the 17th to 18th century, the Pashmina industry flourished under the Mughal Patronage and became Emperor Jehangir's favourite piece of clothing.

In the 19th century, as it reached the Western populace, Pashmina abruptly became a statement of fashion and status symbol across Europe. It was soon donned by Queen Victoria!

Emperor Napoleon's wife was so impressed with the fabric, that she is reported to have owned more than several hundred Pashmina Shawls!
