Description

Here's a gorgeous bib necklace dating from the late 1970s / early 1980s. It has a small but beautiful bib section with a Celtic Art Nouveau-style decorative filigree design, hanging on fine curb chains going up around your neck. Suspended from the centre section is a nice Hematite cabochon stone, which gives it a bit of sheen.

The front bib section measures 5 cms wide (just over 2" wide) and hangs down to 5cms (2") and the whole necklace measures around 46.5 cms long (18 1/4") This is slightly daintier than the other bib necklaces from the 80s I have here in my shop, which is why I think it's an earlier piece. The mid-late 1970s were very much all about a much more refined delicate style of jewellery, and very heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau era (1890s - 1910s)
This is lovely worn with any plain colour to show off the Celtic knot pattern. It's also more in keeping with the current trend for daintier more delicate jewellery with unusual shapes and treatments.
All in all, this is a very beautiful and versatile piece that will go with just about everything you own - it looks lovely with so many colours, or try it with just neutral shades of grey - that would be lovely too.
